Last Updated: 9 May 2026
Welcome to COMA Media Server ("COMA", "we", "our", or "us"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the COMA Media Server software, website, services, applications, and associated infrastructure available through comamediaserver.com.
By accessing, downloading, installing, purchasing, or using COMA Media Server, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use COMA Media Server.
1. About COMA Media Server
COMA Media Server is a self-hosted media server platform that allows users to organise, manage, and stream digital media from hardware, storage, and servers controlled by the user.
COMA does not host, distribute, provide, upload, supply, or curate media content on behalf of users.
Users are solely responsible for all media, metadata, files, and content stored, streamed, shared, or accessed through their own COMA server installations.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to purchase plans, create accounts, operate public or shared COMA servers, or use paid services.
By using COMA, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. User Responsibility for Content
You are solely responsible for all content accessed, uploaded, streamed, indexed, stored, shared, or managed through your COMA server.
- You will only use media you legally own or have the legal right to access.
- You will comply with all applicable copyright laws and intellectual property laws in your jurisdiction.
- You will not use COMA to distribute pirated, infringing, illegal, abusive, or unlawful material.
- You are solely responsible for any sharing of your server or libraries with third parties.
COMA Media Server is software only. We do not monitor, inspect, review, or verify user-hosted media. We do not endorse or authorise copyright infringement.
4. Self-Hosted Nature of the Platform
COMA is a self-hosted platform. Media content remains hosted on infrastructure controlled by the user.
COMA does not provide streaming catalogues, supply movies, television programmes, music, or media, operate as a content distributor, or store user media on COMA-controlled infrastructure unless expressly stated.
Users are responsible for their own servers, internet connections, storage devices, backups, security, firewall configuration, remote access, and compliance with local laws.
5. Accounts and plans
Certain features of COMA may require an account, a valid access key, an active subscription, or internet-based plan verification.
access keys may be device-limited, revoked for breach of these Terms, restricted by plan tier, and must not be resold or shared without written permission.
You agree not to bypass plan verification systems, reverse engineer account protections, circumvent user limitations, use unauthorised setup tools, or redistribute modified versions of COMA containing removed account systems.
We reserve the right to suspend or revoke plans involved in fraud, abuse, or unauthorised redistribution.
6. Remote Access and Networking
COMA may provide optional remote access, networking, or relay functionality.
You acknowledge that internet-based streaming involves inherent security risks. You are responsible for securing your server and public exposure of your server is at your own risk.
COMA is not responsible for unauthorised access caused by weak passwords, insecure configurations, malware, or compromised systems.
We strongly recommend HTTPS, strong passwords, firewall protection, VPN access where appropriate, and multi-factor authentication where available.
7. Third-Party Services
COMA may integrate with or rely upon third-party services including payment processors, email providers, metadata providers, DNS providers, CDN providers, authentication providers, and cloud infrastructure providers.
Third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. COMA is not responsible for third-party outages, actions, security incidents, or policy changes.
8. Payments and Refunds
Paid plans, subscriptions, and digital purchases are generally non-refundable unless required by applicable consumer law, the service is materially defective, or a refund is expressly approved by COMA.
Abuse of refund systems may result in plan termination, account suspension, or permanent bans. Chargebacks or payment disputes may result in immediate suspension pending investigation.
9. Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of plan servers, authentication systems, cloud services, updates, APIs, or online features.
Services may be modified, suspended, discontinued, or updated at any time. Where reasonably possible, we will attempt to provide notice of major changes.
10. Updates and Changes
COMA may automatically or manually provide software updates, security patches, bug fixes, feature changes, and API changes.
We reserve the right to modify plan models, pricing, features, usage limits, and technical requirements.
Continued use of COMA after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use COMA for unlawful purposes, attempt unauthorised access to systems or accounts, distribute malware, overload or attack COMA infrastructure, interfere with plan systems, scrape or abuse APIs, facilitate copyright infringement at scale, or resell services without permission.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate services for violations.
12. Intellectual Property
COMA Media Server, including branding, logos, software, code, interfaces, documentation, designs, trademarks, and visual assets, remains the property of COMA Media Server or its licensors.
You may not rebrand COMA without permission, redistribute proprietary builds, remove copyright notices, or sell modified commercial versions without authorisation.
User-hosted content remains the property of its respective owners.
13. Privacy
COMA may process limited technical information necessary for authentication, account, security, diagnostics, and account management.
This may include IP addresses, device identifiers, plan identifiers, email addresses, and usage logs.
Please review our Privacy Policy for further details.
14. Disclaimer of Warranties
COMA is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, compatibility, and data preservation.
We do not guarantee that COMA will be error-free, secure, continuously available, or compatible with all devices or configurations.
15. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, COMA shall not be liable for indirect losses, consequential losses, loss of profits, loss of data, service interruptions, media loss, security breaches, user-generated content, or copyright infringement committed by users.
Our maximum liability relating to paid services shall not exceed the amount paid by the user in the preceding 12 months.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability which cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless COMA, its operators, owners, affiliates, and service providers from claims arising from your use of the platform, your hosted content, copyright infringement, illegal activity, breach of these Terms, or misuse of remote sharing features.
17. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access where these Terms are breached, fraud is suspected, payment abuse occurs, services are abused, or illegal activity is identified.
You may stop using COMA at any time. Termination does not remove obligations accrued prior to termination.
18. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland.
Any disputes arising in relation to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
